CNMI Joins the Fashion Cities Coalition: Milan Enters the International Network for Sustainable Fashion

Milan, 28 July 2026 , Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana is joining the Fashion Cities Coalition (FCC), the international movement bringing together the leading representatives of the fashion industry across eight cities worldwide — Copenhagen, Cotonou, Dubai, London, Milan, New York, Paris and Singapore — with the goal of accelerating the sector's transition toward circular, regenerative, transparent and socially equitable models by 2030.

The handover took place on 21 July, when Isabelle Lefort, Executive Director of Paris Good Fashion, officially passed leadership of the Coalition to Carlo Capasa, President of CNMI. Following Paris, the Italian institution, together with its stakeholders, will now contribute to the project over the coming weeks: the workshop bringing together supply chain players is scheduled for 27 October, with methodological support from KPMG's Milan office.

Promoted by Paris Good Fashion and facilitated by KPMG, the FCC was launched on 9 July at Paris Good Fashion's Midsummer Camp, in collaboration with Global Fashion Agenda. The movement stems from the conviction that, faced with climate and social pressure, sustainability is no longer a marketing differentiator but a condition for the survival of fashion businesses, and that isolated initiatives are no longer sufficient. The city is thus identified as the most effective level at which to mobilize the entire value chain — brands, manufacturers, suppliers, institutions, research centers and NGOs — and generate systemic impact.

The working method is that of a structured relay running city by city: each stop hosts a one-day workshop, adapts an already-tested practice to its own context, and produces an operational roadmap. The outputs of each city become the input for the next, in a "snowball effect" that feeds three collective outcomes: an International Library of Best Practices, a shared reference document in continuous evolution, and local roadmaps with impact monitoring. The movement is non-commercial and pre-competitive, with no membership fees or legal obligations: participation takes place through a Commitment Letter signed voluntarily by members.

Wave 1 runs from 2026 to 2028 and will conclude with a final collective report-back in Paris in February 2028, followed by the launch of Wave 2. Discussions are already underway with new cities, including São Paulo, Dhaka, Mumbai, Tokyo, Seoul and Berlin.
