SAKE

COLLECTION

Our Fall/Winter ’23 collection, MICELIO, is a showcase of SAKE’s journey toward living in harmony with the land and connecting with ancestral biotechnologies, many of which have been practiced for millennia. Such techniques have stood the test of time, having been burnished via trial and error for generations.

Our collection’s clothing and accessories are comprised of alpaca fibers, organic cottons, natural dyes, vegetable-tanned leathers, and Shiringa bio-textiles that embolden us to deepen connections within ourselves and invite interpersonal reflection without fear.

DESIGNER

Ana Tafur is a Colombian designer. After 6 years as product manager for one of China’s largest apparel manufacturers, she embarked on a journey of self-discovery. The following years were spent traveling the world with a mobile laboratory to source knowledge from the many Indigenous communities in Asia and Latin America. It was Peru who enchanted her with its richness of traditional material and textile techniques. She has invested years researching ancestral techniques and developing formulas to process natural and renewable resources such as leathers from the Amazonian Paiche fish and the Shiringa wild rubber tree. Among other ventures, she founded SAKE in 2016.

BRAND

Each SAKE piece is a conscious design. With a clear vision of how nature and cultural traditions are integral to our future, we have invested years researching techniques and developing formulas to process natural resources sustainably and in a manner respectful to Native communities. We chose our materials for the societal and economic good they are able to generate within the Indigenous and artisan communities with which we partner throughout the Andean region. As a sustainable fashion brand, we are intimately familiar with the provenance of our materials. SAKE has a fair trade and good practices certification.
