COLLECTION 

The Chapter 5 of Cavia is focused on the craftsmanship.

From the patchwork mixed styles made with upcyced fabrics, to the handmade crochet and knit styles, all handmade.

We love to create our own fabrics, like we do on knitwear we created some items made by a loom with upcycled fabrics strings.

OUR WORLD IS FULL OF THINGS WE PRODUCED IN PAST, WE JUST NEED TO TRANSFORM IT WITH OUR CREATIVITY.

 

DESIGNER

Designer Martina Boero has always been fascinated by fashion as an idea of self-expression. she started working for some brands after studying at the IED and in 2020 she opened her own stylistic consultancy studio and her brand, Cavia. She started thinking about her project during the first lockdown, not being able to go out she tried to express her creativity with what she had at home; from this the idea of creating an entirely sustainable project was born, for which she works only with materials that have already been produced such as vintage clothes, stock of both textile and yarn productions. Each item in the collection is in fact a unique piece, handmade by Italian craftsmen. Martina believes that the world is full of things that we have already produced in the past and that we can transform with our creativity into something new. Cavia's mission is not to produce anything from scratch, each item produced is a one-of-a-kind experimentation. The name of the brand derives precisely from this desire for experimentation.

 

BRAND

Cavia’s project was conceived to join the best italian fashion creativity, with the most sincere commitment to our planet. Fashion designer Martina B. dediced to found Cavia to convey authenticity, imagination anche the highest degree of Made in Italy craftsmanship. Knitting is an ancient process that takes time and lives on handed-down tradition: each Cavia’s piece is enlivened from upcycled clothes and fbric and comes to life with the desire to avoid waste.

By following an MTO business model the brand instills creativity while respecting its environmental dedication. Brand’s values appear through a gentle match of kaleidoscopic tones, vibrant knots, and material clashes. Like floating within an imaginative lab. Cavia in an open-source world of inspiration that welcomes differences and promotes inclusivity: each of the unique pieces wants to reflect the precious otherness everyone holds; that is why the brand aims to wxplore new chaces by teaming up with people and creatives. There is no imagination without cooperation.
