DOLCE & GABBANA THE CONTEMPORARY ARISTOCRAT

In cape, black suit and white shirt arrives on the catwalk the contemporary aristocratic man thought by Dolce & Gabbana for the autumn/winter 2012/2013. Opening the show are the suits whose traditional sartorial craftsmanship is at the service of a modern sense of proportions: the pants are up to the ankle or upturned while the jacket is short. The coat appears in every possible version: short, long, single or double breasted, same for the jackets, and the lapels - in smooth velvet or fur - create shade contrasts. Different eras seem to alternate: from the seventeenth century, golden embroidery with baroque floral motifs, which seem to recall the old liveries, embellish the trousers and coats, but also belts, shoes and even socks; the bohemian nineteenth century,  the melodrama century, with bow ties, silk pajamas, capes worn for the indispensable social event: an opera at the theatre.

Inevitable then is Sicily of the '50s, the brand's DNA, with the thin and narrow black ties, the caps, the pinstripe suit and the print of an ancient square on the t-shirt. The accessories reflect this mix of inspirations, the story of a man curious of beauty and past and that maybe is ready to resume the ancient custom of the Grand Tour around the beautiful Europe with the travel version of the now famous it bag Miss Sicily. Also the materials suggest an idea of the past: thick wools, tweed and even sheepskin are treated. A triumph of the Italian culture in every sense: creativity, craftsmanship, cultural references, the voice of Luciano Pavarotti as background music of the show and the young talents of Italian movies applauding in the front row.
