European Designer Fashion Summit Barcelona 2026

European Designer Fashion Summit Barcelona 2026

Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana took part in the European Designer Fashion Summit on 13 and 14 April 2026, held at Los Tinglados in Barcelona as part of the OFF programme of 080 Barcelona Fashion.

The Summit, organised by the Fundación Academia de la Moda Española (FAME) and promoted by the Asociación Creadores de Moda de España (ACME), brought together more than twenty leading figures from the institutional, business and cultural spheres of the European fashion industry, including Pascal Morand, Executive President of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode; Cecilie Thorsmark, CEO of Copenhagen Fashion Week; Scott Lipinski, President of the European Fashion Alliance and CEO of the German Fashion Council; Sara Sozzani Maino; Estefanía Lacayo; and philosopher and sociologist Gilles Lipovetsky.

Structured around three core themes — identity, culture and heritage; internationalisation and global positioning; and current challenges including sustainability, innovation and digitalisation — the two-day programme featured round tables, interviews and professional meetings designed to foster transnational dialogue on the opportunities and challenges facing the European creative fashion industry.

The Summit's conclusions highlight the urgency of defending and strengthening Europe's distinctive model of author fashion, where creativity, technical expertise, cultural heritage and industry converge. Key principles affirmed include fashion as an expression of European cultural identity, artisanal know-how as intangible cultural heritage, social and environmental responsibility as an integral part of the creative process, and the continent's cultural diversity as a fundamental driver of innovation.

Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana's participation in Barcelona reflects the institution's role as a key voice in the European fashion dialogue, and Italy's commitment to building a shared, long-term framework for the continent's creative economy.
