Beppe Modenese celebrates 50 years of Accademia di Costume e di Moda of Rome

The Accademia of Costume and Fashion, a magical name for all of us who are involved in fashion; it has the merit of having framed many young people with the desire to “do fashion” without, however, getting outside help for the realisation of that which, initially, only seemed to be a dream. It was, indeed, a successful intuition of Rosana Pistolese to create a body that would frame and guide those who were seeking to build themselves through fashion. In fact, with her perseverance, Rosana Pistolese was able to create a recognised entity that became a genuine school with an artistic orientation. Furthermore, having later involved, in this project of hers, the personality of art, of the industry and of commerce, all naturally interested in the world of fashion, was the winning idea that gave credibility to a world that was taking its first steps into uncertainties and distrust. The chosen logo: another genius idea. Gruau, an Italian resident in Paris, one of the greatest illustrators of all times, created the head of a strong and feminine woman which became the trademark of the Accademia. I personally have several amazing memories of the Accademia, from the moment I had the honour of delivering the awards to the first classified, just as eminent personalities in fashion, journalism and in the industry, had already done before me.
