The director – inside the house of Gucci

Eighteen months behind the scenes of one of the most important and renowned fashion houses in the world, discovering its creative director and its 90 year-old history. This is what is narrated in the The director – inside the house of Gucci, the film produced by James Franco and directed by Christina Voros, that will be screened in Italian theatres from Sept. 8th to Sept. 10th

The docufilm, distributed by The Space Movies/Universal Pictures Italia and Feltrinelli Real Cinema, was previewed on Sept. 3rd in Rome in the presence of Gucci creative director Frida Giannini, the producer as well as celebrity endorser of the fashion house James Franco, the film director Christina Voros and many VIP guests.

«James Franco and I have been invited to interview each other for a special feature that was going to appear in Harper’s Bazaar US, and when I asked him “What is your next project?” he answered: “Making a documentary about you”», this is how Frida Giannini revealed the origin of the docufilm, «I think I have accepted to make this documentary because I believe in the fashion world glamour hides all the work that’s behind it and with a with a 90 year-old brand like Gucci there is so much craftsmanship in our products and in our collections that deserves to be shown. I thought it might be interesting to have an outsider’s point of view to describe it. »

Since the 1960s film stars have appreciated the beauty and the quality of the accessories made by the artisans of the Florence-based fashion house, thus creating a strong bond between Gucci and the world of cinema. «The maison Gucci has become so iconic that its symbolism now represents a whole world in our collective imagination», shared  Christina Voros, who  had a clear goal on her film set: “My hope is that the film can take the public on a journey through the creative vision of Frida Giannini and the industry in which she is leaving her indelible mark”.
