BOTTEGA VENETA, THE BALANCE OF CONTRAST

BOTTEGA VENETA, THE BALANCE OF CONTRAST

"The collection is based on contrasts rather than anything else", shares Tomas Maier, who, with these words, introduced the Bottega Veneta spring-summer 2014 collection. First of all, a contrast between the upper part and the lower part, a contrast obtained matching tapered silhouette-enhancing trousers with jackets and shirts featuring slightly lowered shoulders. And exactly the shirt is one of the highlights of the collection: a chic garment for the leisure time in which a relaxed but extremely accurate style prevails. A style characterized by a farewell to the crewneck in favour of the V-neck evoking the sophisticated pyjamas of a dandy. After all, the Bottega Veneta man can even casually walk around in the luxurious leather slippers, an icon of the brand. This time the love for tailoring, as the perfect tailoring of the garments proves once again, is celebrated by having the shirts show the chalk marks of the good tailor of yore, an amusing trick shown off with pride.

And the contrast continues in the profiles of the narrow silk ties, or in the chequered-pattern garments that stand out against a collection rich in neutral colours. Also the accessories take centre stage: from the Brera bag in shaded madras, particularly handy with its five sections, to the Moroccan slippers, everything shows that the difference is always in the details.
