“Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world” is Amina Muaddi’s mantra. After studying Fashion Communication at the European Institute of Design in Milan and enlightening stints styling for L’Uomo Vogue and US GQ, designing shoes was an instinctive way for globe-trotting Muaddi to express herself purely and powerfully. Amina learnt her new trade from scratch, decamping to the prestigious shoe making district Riviera del Brenta for an invaluable period spent working with artisans and suppliers to learn how to make each of her shoe’s 40-50 components.
Italy may be Amina Muaddi’s home but the Middle East is where Oscar Tiye’s heart is: the name itself reflects the brand’s mystery and personal significance to the Jordanian/Romanian born designer. More on www.oscartiye.com.
