Dans(e) l'atelier

A project by MILANoLTRE Festival Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana

DANS(E) L’ATELIER was born from the collaboration between Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana and MILANoLTRE Festival, with the aim of going beyond the traditional boundaries of artistic disciplines and placing creativity at the center—as a space for research, freedom, and connection.

The public presentation of the project took place on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Teatro Elfo Puccini, concluding an artistic residency in which fashion and dance intertwined in a lively and experimental dialogue.

From October 9 to 11, Teatro Elfo Puccini hosted three days of creative residency, during which choreographers and fashion designers collaborated to bring to life a shared project of interdisciplinary research.

The outcome was a site-specific journey composed of three short performances, the result of a process in which body, costume, and movement mirrored and influenced one another, generating new artistic trajectories.

Three artistic duos, each composed of a choreographer and a fashion designer, worked in a residential setting, exploring shared themes and imagery. Each duo was supported by the Cult of Magic collective (Francesco Sacco and Luca Pasquino, Samira Cogliandro, Giada Vailati), together with performer Roberta Racis, in developing the physical and musical score.

Guided by chance as a generative principle, both the working themes and the performance spaces were randomly drawn at the beginning of the residency—opening up a space for discovery and unprecedented dialogue. The selected theme was: “The Invented Hagiography of a Saint”, around which each group developed its own performance.

The artistic teams:
  • Alexandra Bachzetsis (choreographer) & Lorenzo Seghezzi (designer) with performer Roberta Racis
  • Andrea Peña (choreographer) & Alessandro Vigilante (designer) with performer Samira Cogliandro
  • Masako Matsushita (choreographer) & Tiziano Guardini (designer) with performer Giada Vailati
