WHO ARE THE SOUND DESIGNERS?

WHO ARE THE SOUND DESIGNERS?

During the shows it always happens to see some of the guests immediately pull out their smartphone or tablet and activate one of those programs to recognize the music that accompanies the show. Soundtracks that give the rhythm at the strides of the models in a way reflect or dampen the inspiration of the collection and are often remixes exclusively created, other times they are catchy music of the season, but still refined (for ex.: Lana Del Rey had a great success during the last edition of Milano Moda Donna held in February).

It is the task of the sound designers to search and modify or create the sound in relation to the purpose; they compose soundtracks, sound objects made up of words and music, sound effects and electronic manipulations and they do it primarily by using the computer as a tool. It is a figure that finds space in a variety of fields, from cinema to advertising, but also in fashion it plays a vital role, it is not a coincidence that designers use the biggest names on the international scene.

Matteo Ceccarini is one of the most famous: once he stopped working as a dj he began working with some of the most important designers in the world, like the late Gianfranco Ferrè, Giorgio Armani (collaboration which also led to the compilation of Emporio Armani Caffè) and the volcanic Vivienne Westwood which with music has a special relationship having been along with Malcolm McLaren, the creator of punk.

A deep music knowledge is the indispensable tool for  this work, but what makes the difference is having a fine ear, able to capture in an old movie or an old record a sound to be transposed into something else, to be merged with other sounds and create the unique magic that accompanies the show, because otherwise you can only hear the constant clicks of the cameras or the screams of photographers, but all you need is the direction of the right sound designer and the show can become a real spectacle.
