A-LAB MILANO - A FACTORY MADE IN ITALY

Of the original team of young people who worked at A-Lab Milano all that is left today is the core represented by a pair of creatives: Alessandro Biasi and Simona Costa. However, there still exist the spirit of the original layout, which considered this brand as a real factory in which different and faraway ideas met to merge.
Their activity began in 2006, but it is in 2008 that is established the firm WHT, which manages the brand after the first major successes, above all the participation in the Toronto Fashion Week in 2007. From there, it is a continuous growth which brings the creations of A-Lab around the world: in 2007, they show during Milano Moda Donna, after having been selected for the Fashion Incubator, a project dedicated to young talents organized by Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana; in 2010 they participate to the Berlin Fashion Week and in 2011 to the Georgia Fashion Week and they also exhibit their creations for Vogue Talents in Milan, in the splendid setting of Palazzo Morando; in the meantime, they do not neglect important collaborations tied to charity, such as "One t-shirt for Tahiti" with Luisa Via Roma and "The caftan of Queens" with AMREF.
Their work follows a very specific path that on one side takes into account the mainstream of fashion, and on the other the world of blogs and niche magazines, with a total commitment to the Made in Italy. It is no coincidence that the logo of the brand is similar to a postmark, a sort of quality assurance for their garments, the letter A derives from Alexander, who is the art director, "Lab" is the abbreviation for laboratory, key concept to understand their work.
From a style point of view, in a few seasons they have managed to create a precise code that identifies them, with elements of recognition as sculptural forms, the tendency to enrich the front end of the garments and leave the back smooth, a taste for abstract and kaleidoscopic prints, rendered particularly contemporary thanks to digital printing.
The woman they address to is a career women, fashion-conscious, but not in a passive way, she must love searching so she can appreciate the details which make up the A-lab garments, not surprisingly among their admirers we find the top model Eva Riccobono.
The fall / winter 2012-13 lives on different suggestions: the dark and medieval Japan, androgynous shapes and rigid coats and suits and then romantic laces, for details that are inspired by the world of lingerie; and next to black there are lots of colors: beige, brown, ochre and yellow, the prints, as usual are of fundamental importance and seem a depictions of ancient Japanese books that tell adventurous and mysterious stories, just like the collection and the world of A-Lab.
