FOCUS ON: ALESSIA XOCCATO, CREATIVITY IN SEARCH OF NEW BALANCES

If among your childhood games one of them was to steal pieces of cloth in the family firm and run to dress the dolls, then your fate seems pretty obvious. So it was for Alessia Xoccato from Vicenza, that, not surprisingly, as soon as she grew she chose to attend the art high school and continue her studies at the IED in Milan (where she currently lives) and in 2007 got a master's degree in fashion design at the Domus Academy.

Thanks to the help of the prestigious school Alessia manages to create a first capsule collection with which she participates in Milano Vende Moda, experience which in 2009 gave her the opportunity to participate in Next Generation, an initiative promoted by the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, and to show, first, during Milano Moda Donna and then, at L'Oreal Fashion Week in Toronto.

At the same time Alessia Xoccato works for important fashion offices and begins to do consultant works for renowned Italian and international brands, but in 2010, in response to deep personal needs, she decided to create their own brand: "creative expression becomes natural, it evolves with you in a sort of work in progress, in some cases it clashes with reality, it adapts to the needs and brings you to seek new balances”.

Her style is graphic, rigorous and essential, and in fact the designers that she looks at with great admiration are Miuccia Prada, Martin Margiela, Yohji Yamamoto, Helmut Lang and Raf Simons. Behind her creations there is always, a hidden, careful study of shapes and sizes also in relation to space: Alessia Xoccato does not forget - as often happens - that the main function of a dress is to wrap a body and, for this reason, she conceives the dress like the person of which it is the projection.

These characteristics have also struck the press, not surprisingly Alessia has been inserted among Vogue Talents and was one of the finalists of this year's competition Who is on next. For the autumn / winter 2012-13 she introduced a collection that plays with the dualism of shapes and matter: rigor and flexibility, double weights and light silks, essential volumes then exploded; the pants with pleats are the prince of the collection, but the attention to the structure is the real protagonist, as evidenced by the coat that follows the seams as if they were a support: fashion is the art of construction.
