Etro, the first monograph

Etro, the first monograph

The book, edited by the Italian journalist Molho and published by Rizzoli, does not outline the history of the brand, established in the late 1960’s, in chronological order, but sketches a geographic and highly imaginative itinerary through 7 rooms/themes (Nature, Art, Travelling, Playing, Colour, New Tradition, Paisley) reconstructing through images and thoughts the Etro universe. A cultivated, sophisticated and elegant world, behind which hide the curiosity and love for history, art and different cultures that have accompanied the fashion house since its debut.

Every theme is introduced by a member of the Etro family who talks about the topic with an illustrious friend who has a link with the theme: Nature, with Carlo Petrini who views it as an asset to be handed down to future generations; Art, through the ironic and poetic language of Liu Bolin; Travelling, with Robert Penn who has made a lifestyle out of it; Playing, with artist Katsumi Komagata; Colour, with Leatrice Esiselman who has given deep thoughts on the theme; New Tradition, with Indian artists Jiten Thukral and Sumir Tagra who have rethought the motif of the tree of life leaf; iconic Paisley, with Cashemere expert Monique Lévi-Strauss.
