“Altagamma 2013”: A Brand for Milan

The round table group "Milano e le Eccellenze Creative" (Milan and Creative Excellence) has launched its annual appointment with the “Osservatorio Altagamma” (High Quality Monitoring Unit), dedicated to supporting the quality lifestyle industry. Discussions will centre on the project to create a brand image for Milan, in its role as a centre of creative Italian production.

In support of this ambitious initiative are: Altagamma, the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (National Chamber for Italian Fashion), Cosmit, and the Policy Department for Work, Economic Development, Universities and Research of the Municipality of Milan. The objective is to foster creativity by means of a collective effort and a targeted promotional approach.  

The president of the CNMI, Mario Boselli, gave the following reaction to the Altagamma proposal: “The National Chamber for Italian Fashion is happy to participate with other players in this system to support Milan as an entity and brand capable of competing successfully with the important cities of Paris and London – two real capitals – and with New York, which, if we think about it, is more than a capital in certain ways”. This is a genuine initiative to safeguard Italian production, as both a vital sector for the country’s economy and a unique form of cultural heritage.
