The MAXXI National Museum of 21st Century and Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana announce Memorabile. Ipermoda, an exhibition curated by Maria Luisa Frisa.

The exhibition staged at the MAXXI MAXXI National Museum of 21st Century in collaboration with the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana will open in Rome in November 2024 and run until March 2025.

Memorabile. Ipermodais the result of a series of reflections in times that require the assumption of a whole range of responsibilities in today’s fashion, in its creative and economic structure, in its practices of design, in its use of ever more sophisticated technologies, and on the part of both its protagonists and its supporting players. Reflections on the approaches taken by creators and the complicities between them, on new forms of authoriality, like that of the designers themselves, who act in a dimension which is that of the relationship with and exchange between the different creative practices, processes, techniques and values that shape fashion’s languages and models of production. On the utopian visions that fashion proposes, and which pose a series of questions that are not just ethical. On the creative relationship with time and the archives. On the role of the creative director in the big groups of luxury brands. And at the same time on the role of independent design. The exhibition presents the varied range of articles that fashion produces today—clothing, accessories, images—arranged in spaces that are emblems of a series of themes which set out to evoke, question and explore fashion’s aspiration to be memorable.

The project falls within the framework of a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Fondazione MAXXI, MAXXI National Museum of 21st Century and Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana: a three-year-long collaboration that will see the joint organization, in Italy, of activities devoted to the themes of the culture and narration of fashion, sustainability and promotion of the Made in Italy brand.
