FASHION FILM FESTIVAL - MILANO 2021

FASHION FILM FESTIVAL MILANO, the world's most important international fashion and culture festival founded and directed by Constanza Etro, in collaboration with Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana celebrated its seventh edition during MFW Men from January 13 to 18, 2021.

The aim of the partnership is to create a system, to reinforce and strengthen the exposure of Made in Italy abroad, in a contemporary, digital and avant-garde international context, and to ensure that young Italian designers and established brands maximize their exposure in a world-class context. A cultural bridge between Italy and the 60 participating countries.

With its seventh edition, Fashion Film Festival Milano succeeded as always in presenting a rich and heterogeneous selection of Fashion Films. More than 200 works were submitted from almost 60 countries around the world, curated by Gloria Maria Cappelleti following the philosophy "The Big helps the Small", where the big names of fashion and  cinema are shown in the same window of young designers, brands and directors. Different languages for narratives that have ranged from documentary to fictional, from social denunciation to artistic experimentation, a true cultural bridge between different realities, a truly inclusive initiative that celebrates diversity. Of contest as always there were many special projects presented, 7 conversations and 5 feature film premiers shown on the prestigious streaming platform mymovies.it all sold out in addition to the two special projects FFFMILANOFORGREEN and FFFMILANOFORWOMEN. The Festival received a wide and very positive press coverage, both on national and on the most important international newspapers.

As every edition, the International Jury, called to evaluate the fashion films part of the contest, was made of leading figures from the world of fashion, cinema and art: Tim Yip, Director, Art director and costume designer, winner of an Oscar for the sets of "The Tiger and the Dragon"Lachlan Watson, young American non-binary actor, LGBTQI+ activist, among the protagonists of the TV series Sabrina; Marcelo Burlon, creative director, DJ and creator of the brand "County of Milan"; Anna Dello Russo, fashion icon, journalist, influencer; Milovan Farronato, artist, curator and publisher; Javier Goyeneche, founder of the sustainable brand Ecoalf; Margherita Missoni, creative director; Paolo Roversi, photographer; Elizabeth Von Guttman, founder of System Magazine; Tamu McPherson, photographer, influencer.

The last exceptional juror was the festival audience who, thanks to the Online Voting available on the official website of the Festival, was able to vote for their favorite fashion film, selecting the winner of the People's Choice Award.

The seventh digital edition of the event finished with the FFFMILANO DIGITAL AWARDS 2021 in which the jurors and some friends of the Festival virtually handed over the awards to the 16 winners, the winner of the Best Fashion Film was  "Le Mythe Dior" by Matteo Garrone who, together with the Artistic Director of the Dior Women's Collections Maria Grazia Chiuri, virtually accepted the award, along with the other winners who participated in the digital ceremony. The winners received exclusive Fornasetti digital awards. The award that Fornasetti conceived for this year's Fashion Film Festival Milano is a digital creation, as digital as this year's entire edition of the Festival was. An immaterial contribution that becomes a concrete support to an initiative that shows the ability to overturn the limits creating value and strengthening inclusiveness and connections within an increasingly multicultural network.
