"POLITICS AND STRATEGIES AGAINST COUNTERFEITING" - ROME JULY 10TH 2008

Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana on July 10th 2008 co-operated to the creation of the seminary promoted by Consulate and British Embassy in  Rome into the wonderful setting of Villa Wolkonsky, Residence of British Ambassador. The event was originated by the necessity of awakening public opinion to counterfeiting phenomenon in order to safeguard consumers and companies  through the search for strategies and instruments adopted at local, national and international level for fighting counterfeiting.
The congress has  significantly contributed to awaken public opinion about this subject and to draw guide lines and strategies practicable in defence of our enterprises.
The institutional seminary has seen the participation of prestigious speakers belonging to diplomacy, institutions, commerce and public safety; it has been ruled by Sandro Calvani, Director of  UNICRI (United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research). Among them we cite dr Fausto Zuccarelli, Assistant Attorney against Mafia (Sostituto Procuratore Nazionale Antimafia), dr Andrew Jenner, responsible for safeguarding intellectual properties of IPO (Intellectual Property Office), dr Antonello Colosimo, Vice High Commissioner of Commissaryship against Counterfeiting (Vice Alto Commissario del Commissariato per la Lotta alla Contraffazione), besides Cav. Lav. Mario Boselli, President of Italian Fashion Chamber (Camera della Moda Italiana) and Mrs Giovanna Gentile Ferragamo, Vice President of Italian Fashion Chamber.
Cav. Lav. Mario Boselli underlined the importance, for Fashion Companies Associated, of subjects such as the protection of intellectual property or fight against counterfeiting. In fact consumers, when purchase a counterfeited product, do not receive any warranty and therefore they have no defence in case of defects or damages, so risking their health.
This event has represented an important step in the process of awareness and information and strategies exchange in fighting against counterfeiting. The future target is to increase co-ordinated efforts to protect citizens and company in a safe and effective way.
