THE PROJECT
The initiative, conceived and realized by CNMI and funded by the Municipality of Milan aims at fostering and supporting young fashion firms, through tutoring activities and selected visibility and communication initiatives, including the participation in the Milano Moda Donna fashion shows.
The first edition of the project started in October 2005 and ended in December 2007. The Fashion Incubator had its premises in via Ettore Bugatti 12.
Besides the individual offices for the newly started businesses, the premises also featured a workshop equipped with specific machinery for the making of prototypes and the collection samples (sewing machines, working tables, iron, paper patterns etc.), as well as a centralized secretariat.
The project, which met with a success exceeding all expectations of Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, was welcomed most favourably also by the trade press, thus attracting a high number of press reviews.
PARTICIPANTS:
More than 150 applications complete with fashion and business projects have been submitted. The selection committee, which met three times to examine the projects in a thorough and responsible manner, decided to admit 10 firms:
