TIM OMAGGIA L'UNITA' D'ITALIA CON GLI ABITI DI CHICCA LUALDI AL MOTO GP

A Sunday of success for the young designer Chicca Lualdi, already protagonist with Camera della Moda for the FASHION INCUBATOR and now also protagonist at the Mugello Moto Gp.

At the designer of the brand Beequeen, chosen directly by TIM, was asked to dress the Grid Girls, the girls that liven up the starting grids. A further breeze of fashion among the motors of Mugello was brought by Bianca Balti, the new TIM testimonial which along with Valentino Rossi characterized the VILLAGE VIP of TIM.

A complete Italian celebration with motors, beauties and passion for sport, interpreted by the vibrant talent of Lualdi, that for the occasion customized her collection in homage to the 150th anniversary of Italy’s’ Union. So we asked her to tell us how this cooperation started:

Chicca, tell us how you started your career as a designer, where you studied and what are your previous working experience?

Really I started with a degree in economics but my passion has always been fashion, for this reason I integrated my studies in New York with Fashion & Styling. I started working for firms like Ittierre, Aeffe, Etro and opened a style consulting firm before launching my personal brand.

How did your co-operation with FASHION INCUBATOR and with Camera Nazionale della Moda begin?

I participated in the contest and won, I can’t believe how lucky I was. Since then, thanks to Camera Moda, I have started an important road to growth and all thanks to the activities promoted to help the young entrepreneurs of fashion. Thanks to the contest I was able to show in calendars and, most important, it gave me visibility and important contacts; surely it is fundamental to work hard and be proactive in order to best express one’s potentials, and be careful to organize both the business and the creative aspect.

The inspiration for Beequeen was born in the Hamptons, it addresses to a sophisticated woman that loves understated luxury; what did you think when you were chosen to dress the grid girls?

I thought it would be stimulating to combine two worlds so far away, destroy obsolete stereotypes that make us think of women of this sector necessarily as sexy or shameless. The aim was to find a young look, feminine and fresh but not “sexy” as intended in the old way, a concept that quite frankly today I find overcome.

The dresses we saw at Mugello come from today’s collection, where did you get the idea for the decomposition of the shapes?

The dresses for Grid Girls and the one wore by Bianca Balti belong to the collection PE 2011. The geometrical inspiration and the theme of decomposition are key concepts in my collections, because I love to combine different materials as if they mold in one, and geometries, precise lines, clean cuts, represent the essence of my concept of minimal fashion, where simplicity is only apparent. Every detail is important. I inspire myself to architecture, and to artists like Ithoshi Abe, Ponti, Citterio, Caccia Dominioni ...

Recently TIM has chosen Bianca Balti as the new protagonist of its commercials, a top model of a particular beauty unconventional if compared to the past testimonials. A choice toward a more elegant concept of beauty and branding. Many firms not  involved in fashion are beginning to approach this world, can you explain the reason why?

I believe that in the recent years the concept of beauty has evolved considerably from certain stereotypes which only see a woman as a “doll” and the search for sophisticated top models like Bianca Balti, in their not constructed, simple and pure beauty, clearly express this trend. Personally has a stylist, having an “understated” vision of fashion, I find models like Bianca Balti can better exploit dresses by expressing personality as well as beauty.

Seeing Bianca wearing your creations must have been really gratifying, what did you feel?

A great emotion, Bianca Balti has always been my favourite model, a bit of a muse. Thank you Camera and thank you TIM!

The MotoGp is an event  that gathers many spectators, mainly sport fans but more specifically motor fans: how does it feel to be able to reach such a vast and unusual public, do you think that the world of sport is ready to welcome that of fashion?

I believe that overall there has always been a very thin borderline between the two worlds and often fashion has been and still is inspired by sports, certainly the bond is not very immediate, but let’s not forget the many wives and girlfriends that would accompany their men to the MotoGp and maybe appreciate a touch of fashion.
