Milano Unica presents "On Board: the principle of creativity"

A perimeter of creativity without borders. An overall picture that brings together the past, the present, dreams, reality, art and mainstream. A bridge that connects worlds, epochs, cultures, memories and future visions. A designer’s moodboard is a prelude, without rules and without laws, a beginning which can be evaluated like a story in itself even before it becomes a collection.

The Milano Unica exhibition “On Board: the principle of creativity” is dedicated to this tool which is half art and half trade, a collective exhibition curated by Simone Marchetti which will feature all the moodboards of the Italian collections next to the collections that inspired them. Each work has been inserted into an intimate and imaginary path of modular wunderkammer, multimedia cabinets of curiosities which each designer has customized with their own aesthetic.

The exhibition will be inaugurated on Tuesday 6th September in the new spaces of Milano Unica in Rho Pero at the Events Area Pavilion 12 (where all the exhibitors and visitors to Milano Unica can visit it). Afterwards, the exhibition will move to the centre of Milan, to the Visconti Pavilion of Via Tortona 58, for the entire duration of the Milan Women’s Fashion Week (from 22nd to 26th September, entrance free of charge) and it will be included in the official calendar of the Italian Chamber of Fashion.

The forerunner of Pinterest and Instagram, the panoramic view of images of the moodboards is an opportunity for reflection on creativity, on the speed of contemporary images and above all on the value of the aesthetic investigation by designers as a social, political, cultural and futuristic analysis. Nineteen of the greatest names of Italian fashion are involved: Antonio Marras, Arthur Arbesser, Blumarine, Etro, Fausto Puglisi, Fendi, Marco De Vincenzo, Marni, MSGM, N.21, Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini, Ports1961, Prada, Pucci, Salvatore Ferragamo, Stella Jean, Trussardi, Valentino and Versace.

But there are not only famous brands. Alongside the major fashion houses, Milano Unica and Simone Marchetti have wanted to continue their support for young people who represent the fashion of tomorrow. “On Board: the principle of creativity” will include the works of two international schools, like the Parsons School of New York and Central Saint Martins of London, and above all the moodboards of the future, i.e. the designs by the best students of IED, DOMUS ACADEMY, AOFL and ISTITUTO MARANGONI grappling with the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil, the innovative multimedia platforms which open up a new frontier and a new method for this work tool.
