The Ermenegildo Zegna Founder’s Scholarship gets the green light

The academic year 2014/2015 inaugurates the first year of the Ermenegildo Zegna Founder’s Scholarship programme, the initiative consisting in the investment of 1 million Euros a year for 25 years to fund the high specialization of young talents born or resident in Italy who wish to come back after their experience abroad.

The Selection Committee, chaired by William B. McGurn, solicitor at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP and by Gildo Zegna, CEO of the Zegna Group, gave out 14 grants choosing among the 22 candidates proposed by the Rectors of the Universities participating in the project (Bocconi, Poli Milano, Poli Torino, Statale of Milan, Luiss of Rome, Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna of Pisa and Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa).

The Ermenegildo Zegna Founder’s Scholarship programme, besides honouring the memory of the company founder, renowned for his philanthropic activities and his pioneering approach, is a testament to the sense of responsibility of the Zegna family and the Group. “It’s a substantial commitment in support of the future of Italy, whose destiny greatly depends on the opportunities offered to its most brilliant students”, shared Gildo Zegna, stressing the importance of this initiative aimed at fostering Italy’s excellence, passion and talent.
