The winners of The Nude Prize - Furla Award 2015

Maria Iorio and Raphaël Cuomo are the winners of the tenth edition of the The Nude Prize - Furla Award 2015 partnered by Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana.

The winners were announced during the press conference for the presentation of the tenth edition of the prize, which took place this morning in the Sala delle Otto Colonne of Palazzo Reale. The press conference was introduced by a welcome note by Domenico Piraina, Director of Palazzo Reale, followed by the speeches of Filippo Del Corno, Milan City Councillor for Culture, Giovanna Furlanetto, President of the Furla Foundation, Chiara Bertola, Curator of the Furla Award, Giacinto Di Pietrantonio, Curator and member of the scientific committee of the Furla Award and artist Vanessa Beecroft, sponsor of the tenth edition of the Furla Award.

The winners were selected by a distinguished international jury: Vanessa Beecroft, President of the jury, Teresa Gleadowe (President, Nottingham Contemporary, Nottingham), Barbara Hernandez (Director, SOMA – Mexico City), Alya Sebti (Artistic Director, Fifth Biennal of Marrakech) and Benno Tempel (Director, Foundation Gemeentemuseum Den Haag, The Hague).

The selected work builds a bridge between history and the most relevant issues of our present in Europe and in the world, exploring questions like migration, the archival procedures in museums, memory and the cultural construction of these topics.

The Furla Award winners carry off the possibility to have their work entirely produced by the Furla Foundation. Furthermore, along with the winners of the previous editions, both artists will participate in the Furla Award retrospective exhibition taking place at Palazzo Reale from March 5th to April 12th 2015.
